During his conversation with Humans of Bombay, Jaaferi emphasized that having millions of followers doesn’t guarantee a hit movie. He explained that social media might create hype, but it doesn’t always translate into ticket sales.


Jaaferi gave a clear example to back up his point. He mentioned Urvashi Rautela, who boasts a massive 70 million followers on Instagram. He then broke it down with a simple calculation:

"Let’s assume just 10 million of her followers bought movie tickets. If each ticket costs Rs 250, that film should make Rs 100 crore. But that’s not happening, right?"

His statement highlights a reality check—social media engagement and actual audience interest are two different things. Many people follow celebrities for their style, dance, or lifestyle updates, but that doesn’t mean they’ll spend money to watch their films.


Jaaferi also explained that movie promotions and social media trends aren’t enough to make a film a hit. What truly matters is how audiences respond to the trailer.

"A Salman Khan film can get a Rs 10–15 crore opening and can also get a Rs 50 crore opening. It’s what people sense from the trailer. Not all Salman Khan films get Rs 50 crore openings," he said.

This proves that even Bollywood’s biggest superstars rely on their trailers to create excitement. If the trailer looks interesting, people will flock to theatres—if not, no amount of Instagram hype can save the film.
